Brown University Activist-in-Residence
Posted November 1st, 2006
Nov. 13, 14, 15: The screening of SKFPR is part of a three day series of events entitled Reconnecting: Cape Verdean Memory and History in Fox Point sponsored by the International Charter School and Brown University’s Center of the Study of Race and Ethnicity in America (CSREA), Office of the President, and Urban Studies Department.
Filmmaker Dr. Andrade-Watkins is the first “Activist-in-Residence” hosted by the CSREA. The Activists in Residence Program is a new program under the direction of the Center for the Study of Race and Ethnicity in America, the Swearer Center for Public Service, and the Urban Studies program at Brown University. In every instance, the goal will be to expose students, staff, faculty and the community to examples of how real life issues influence what we learn and how what we learn influences how we live. The program is supported through a grant from the Office of the President, the budgets of the three Brown University programs and community partners like ICS.
